22-24 October 2018
A lovely quirky house with lots of nice touches - Liz had thought of everything - even crabbing lines for the kids!
Perfect location - in the centre but far enough away from any noise (apart from church bells!). And fresh kippers from next door for breakfast, what more could you want ...
Really enjoyed our stay in your lovely cottage, and we thought Whitby (and the kippers!) were fabulous :)
14-20 October 2018
A very spacious property, well located.
28 September 2018

Lovely cottage. Very clean and thoughtful touches. Great location. Good communication with the owners. Thank you.
Lovely cottage and we had a great week.
4-11 August 2018
An absolutely lovely cottage in a stunning location. We will definitely miss the smell of kippers every morning! Had a wonderful stay for my 21st birthday, made even more special with the card that was left for me! Thank you!!
4 August 2018
Lovely house. Plenty big enough. Lots of things to do, with the games givena nd a big tv.
28 July to 4 August 2018
Lovely house in a fantastic location. Made lots of lovely memories. Will definately be back.
19-21 July 2018
Wonderful place to have a look in Whitby.
Good position near the sea. Have all the basic facilities you need except washing machine. The rooms are clean.
Really a nice choice for a family. Liz is helpful and willing to provide solutions.
17-19 July 2018
Thank you for a lovely stay
13-16 July 2018
We were a party of 6 and stayed for 4 nights in this lovely house, the location was wonderful and so close to beach, shops and eating places. The house was spotlessly clean and had everything you could possibly need. The only one comment I would make is that the main bathroom had a beautiful roll top bath which nobody wanted to use as everyone wanted a quick shower. The only shower was in the en suite on the top floor which meant a queue every morning and evening....so maybe a second shower in the main bathroom would be a good idea.
The owners were very easy and helpful to communicate with, We were also allowed to take our dogs with us which was perfect.
A lovely place to stay and will certainly go again ... would recommend to anyone, thank you for a wonderful stay.
5-8 July 2018
We have had a super time. The cottage is beautiful, ideal location and ver comfortable. The only problem is that we haven't been here long enough!!
Maybe next time!!!
3-5 July 2018
Haglathe House is a delightful period property in a fantastic location. It is well equipped and maintained, and while its decor and amenities are modern, it retains an attractively old fashioned charm.
Highlights for us included walking a few metres up the road for a superb view of Whitby, climbing the nearby steps to the astonishing St Mary's church, and fresh kippers for breakfast from the shop next door!
Liz's guidance about car parking was extremely useful and once we'd found a place to leave the car, we enjoyed exploring Whitby and coastline on foot.
29 June to 1 July 2018
What a beautiful house, had everything we could possibly need, the kitchen and living areas were lovely, relaxing but practical and the bedrooms were spacious with very very comfortable beds and lovely clean and fresh bedding.
The whole house was spotlessly clean, the location was fabulous, just far enough away for the quietness and beautiful sea views but only a few minute walk to the beach, shops and bars.
We would definitely recommend the house to anyone thinking of staying!
28 June 2018
Had the most amazing time with my daughter the bride to be and her bridesmaid
A beautifull cottage steeped in history perfectly placed in a beautiful seaside town
We have met lots of lovely people in our short stay but will return for a reunion.
24-28 June 2018
Just had a wonderful week in a wonderful cottage.
Everything we wanted and needed.
Couldn't be nicer and more helpful owners.
Staying again later in year. That speaks for itself!!
22-24 June 2018
Lovely house, very close to the beach, the 199 steps and shops and amenities. The house is on 3 floors and had ample space for 4 adults and a child.
Little things make a big difference, like dishwasher tablets, dish cloths and a decent bottle opener! The house was clean and tidy and is a really good place to stay!
Thoroughly recommend the hosts, they are fab!
13-15 June 2018
The Cottage is cosy and stylish.
We liked to be next to the Kipper smoker.
We expected better views, but it is really a beautiful location. In nearly 2 minutes you are on the beach.
We loved our stay in Haglathe House.
10-12 June 2018
Lovely place to stay.
8-10 June 2018
We loved staying at 20 Henrietta Street and would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a Whitby stay.
We will certainly be returning!
4-6 June 2018
This place is a fantastic base to visit the many sights that Whitby has to offer.
It quickly became a home to our group of 5 (+ 1 dog) and provided a sanctuary to retreat to after many long walks on the beach.
Liz’s hospitality was fantastic and the information provided prior to the stay was bountiful!
We would all love to return to Whitby again, and stay in this beautiful home.
20-22 May 2018
This is a great place to stay in Whitby - accommodation which is surprisingly spacious while also being snug and well-designed; an easy walk into the town; a real sense of being part of the community.
At first glance car access is a bit daunting, but it turns out to be really manageable and Liz's advice is clear and practical.
The standard of the decor and maintenance is high, respecting the history of the location while being up-to-date in terms of amenities and comfort.
18-20 May 2018
Great relaxed house.
Really quirky. Had a fantastic stay.
Spacious house a really good location.
Communication with host superb.
11-14 May 2018
Charming cottage great location would recommend it to everyone.
4-6 May 2018
Great house. Very close to the church/abbey in a pretty quiet location. The top bedroom is just gorgeous.
Roll top bath on the middle floor made me want to redecorate our own house.
Pros From a new parent perspective it was handy to have a cot and high chair on hand. We brought an additional travel cot as there isn't really any safe floor space upstairs to let a crawler loose (which was expected).
Cons Henrietta Street is pretty much treated as a pedestrian zone by tourists and we had to drop off all the baby stuff at the front door on a busy bank hol weekend so we should've driven up to the house when it'd quietened down a bit.
13-15 April 2018
We all had a lovely stay in Haglathe House. Beautiful corrage with a fantastic location to explore Whitby. There is plenty of room for us all and great facilities. We loved the old pictures around the cottage plus the best kippers right next door!!
Thank you x
PS We will be back!!
6 April 2018
Thanks for a lovely few days in Whitby.
Cottage been great despite a few quirks!
We'll be back xx
3-7 April 2018
The cottage is in a lovely location right in the old part of Whitby 5 minutes from the sea. It has lots of character, beams and lovely coal fire. 6 of us fitted in easily. It has a few minor things that are associated with an old house e.g bulb went and tripped the fuses ! but the information was in the information pack and Liz was very helpful. You have to be quite brave driving down Church street on a busy afternoon to get to it but access was easy. We found parking in the car park next to the Fleece pub and you can get a permit from the Tourist information office for £8 a day ( we were too lazy to drive round looking for free parking.
Overall would strongly recommend the cottage for an authentic Whitby experience including the smell of kippers from Fortunes kippers next door.
Very lovely cottage
Lovely comfortable home for the weekend, everything you need and more , close to all the shops in the old quarters of Whitby, recommend to family and friends
Superb pet friendly accommodation
Very central location and best we have stayed at it had every mod con you could easily stay for weeks but unfortunately we were only there for three days. We will definitely return again well done to the cleaners and the owners very clean and very tastefully decorated. Great base with two easy options to get down onto the beach within 20yds loved it.
23-25 February 2018
Property with loads of character. Well appointed with all we needed for a weekend. Location was near enough to town to be convenient but far enough out to not be affected by noise from the town.
10-12 February 2018
Haglathe House is not only beautiful inside and out with its personal touches and interesting layout, it’s also positioned in the best place possible where you can easily access the 199 steps, abbey, pubs, the lighthouse and many more attractions! There were lots of things to do in Whitby and the whole experience was made all the more amazing when we had a lovely house to go back to.
26-28 January 2018
A well situated place to explore wonderful Whitby.
19-21 January 2018
Lovely friendly host, lovely little touches.
Couldn’t ask for more, thank you.
8-11 December 2017
A lovely cottage in a great location. Warm and cosy!
24 November 2017 - Sjaan, Jay & Arthur C
We enjoyed a wonderful relaxed weekend in your very comfortable cottage. Many thanks.
12 November 2017
We all had a fabulous few days. Thank you for letting us loan your beautiful cottage.
It felt so comfortable + homely.
Clean and so convenient, we could walk out the door and be adventurous. We stayed three days and were satisfied. The accommodations are great for families or sharing with another couple as we did. There were no toiletry items at all - no big deal. I would still stay here again and recommend to friends also.
The location was perfect, short walk to the beach,
The Cottage was really clean, with all the facilities you would ever need. Even though it's next door to a famous smoked kipper shop you would never know. There were no smells at all. I would recommend this Cottage to anyone we all had a great time and will definitely go there again.
31 October 2017 - The Braisby's and The Hyers :
Never been to Whitby for Halloween and we had a fantastic time, would most certainly come again.
This cottage is a wonderful place to stay it has got everything you need and would stay here again. Thank you.
seeing the abbey was amasing!
Love from Arlo + Albie (age 5 + 2)
17 October 2017 - Sheeran Party :
Lovely cottege great location had a lovely stay for my 50th birthday. Hopefully see you again. xx
9 October 2017 - Jeff, Sam, Steve, Danielle :
Stayed for two nights. Lovely cottage great location. We didn't mind the kipper shop being next door.
We climbed the 199 steps and were disappointed with what was at the top. We all bought pieces of jet and some lovely woolen items. Thank you. x
Perfect location. Wonderful clean and cosy accommodation. Would definitely stay again. Very handy for the abbey.
18-22 September 2017 - Ian, Andrew, Joan & Sue
Lovely cottage, well appointed and the weather has been beautiful. All in all a lovely stay, many thanks.
22-29 September 2017
We loved the location and room layout, it was close to everything, but tucked away enough to be quiet on an evening. It is next to the kipper smoke house but don't worry there was no issue with smell in the house, we loved calling in and cooking some. It was great having the look out at the end of the road to walk to on an evening with the dogs.
Heather, Dave, Sharon, Alex & India :
Wonderful, Wonderful, wonderful! Thank you.
19-26 August 2017
A beautiful place to stay for a few days. Clean, comfortable and full of character. Ideally located for easy access to the town, beach or abbey during the day, but far enough removed to be peaceful at night.
We loved the sound of bells from St Mary's Church and the smell of woodsmoke from Fortune's Kippers smokehouse next door.
Windsor Morris Dancers :
We've had a lovely time here at Haglathe House! Great location, cosy, nice decor. In Whitby we've enjoyed the folk festival, Rusty Shears, the Dracula Walk (Weds + Sats, 7:30, Whale Bones, £5).
Thank you for being the Windsor Morris base camp!
5-12 August 2017 - Simsons/Schofields :
Lovely cottage in great location! The cottage was clean a tidy when we arrived. Well equipt with all we needed! But could benefit with a washing machine.
Thank you for our stay! :)
Roomy, comfortable cottage in a perfect location
Really enjoyed our stay. Close to all Whitby has to offer, but in a relatively quiet location just off the very busy Church Street. Facilities and equipment are good, and plenty of room for everyone to "spread out", so not living in each others pockets all the time.
Would love to live here
What a beautiful cottage, felt relaxed as soon as we got there ,a real home from home.I don't think anything as been overlooked,my room in the attic was brilliant. The only thing I could complain about if anything was I didn't have a long enough stay ,would love to own this property,a piece of paradise on earth, well done and thanks again for creating some special memories
15-22 July 2017
Great cottage in a great location! Super central with lots of space. Dog friendly
Sarah, Steve, Sesha & Alfie, Sheffield :
Great week, weather been brilliant, nice + sunny + warm!
All good, would return.
Memorable weekend - lovely cottage
Excellent communication with owner from start to end.
Cottage is in an idyllic setting but on busy cobbled road in old town - busy with people not cars. Parking in NOT available nearby but host gives ample advise regarding this. We were a group of 5 adults and one BIG dog. We dropped off our things for weekend and husband drove around searching parkink spot (ended up near railway station where car stayed for whole of weekend).
Cottage was to celebrate my eldest sons 30th - nice touch was to have a birthday card on table for him when we arrive ( Thankyou). There are dog biscuits too ( for dog not son!!). Nice touches / welcoming. Cottage is right next to historic fortune kippers. The cottage is very homely, has personal artifacts and lots of picture. You do feel that you are in a quaint home rather than a sterile holiday let. Kitchen s well equipped. Youngest son made 3 course meal!
You will not get a better placed cottage in Whitby. Little stroll and down steps yo can reach a small beach for dog walk or play with little ones. View from upper floor bathroom can see the sea and church clock through velux when laid on bed. Lovely roll top bath in house bathroom.
All in all brilliant accommodation on very ambient street in heart of Whitby.
26-28 June 2017 - Marcia, Michael, Elsie, Jim & Eileen :
House is locally situated. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would reccomend this cottage to family and friends. Thanks.
Staithes and Robin Hoods Bay worth a visit.
23-25 June 2017 - Lisa. Charl, Amanda, Jo & Claire :
Beautiful house, perfect location, fabulous stay.
Thank you :)
16 June 2017 - Kate, Shirley and Louise :
Had a lovely five days in your beautiful cottage. It has to be the best location in Whitby, a stones throw to the beach which my dog (Burrows) loved. The weather was amazing which was an added bonus. Could not fault the cottage in any way, wil definately be back!
5-8 June 2017
thank you we enjoyed holiday. your house is lovely and we would love to return.
3-5 June 2017
Our Whitby weekend was just what we were hoping for. Your cottage was a lovely base for us - and my husband loved the kippers I took back for him!
29 May to 3 June 2017
Just a short note to say thank you very much for a lovely week in Halgathe House. The accommodation was just what we needed and a great base for exploring.
What a lovely cottage everything we needed really clean all cleaning stuff available to use will be booking again for a brilliant weekend in Whitby.
Beautiful house in an amazing location - This house is fantastic, spotlessly clean and tidy with everything at hand. Spent a few days in this amazing house for husband's "special" birthday with friends and our 13 year old daughter, we had a wonderful time, ideal spot for beach, restaurants, shops and exploring! Loved every minute of our stay and hope to return soon. Brilliant place, one of the nicest properties we have stayed in.
We loved our stay at Haglathe House.
The house was in the perfect location; 2 mins from the 199 steps to the Abbey and the same for shops, cafes, pubs/restaurants and there were steps down to a small beach area. Oh and don't forget it's next door to the famous Fortunes Kippers! They were yummy!
The house itself is beautifully well-kept town house with 3 floors. We had 2 couples and a friend staying so it gave us plenty of space. We were given lots of really useful information in the welcome pack so we didn't have to contact the owner for anything during our stay.
28 April 2017
No surprises - Great location in the heart of Whitby. The Labradors loved the beach and sea. Liz was incredibly helpful and a very rapid responder.
18-21 April 2017
In a great location on Henrietta Street, this is a lovely house. It's spacious for the terraced houses on this street and comfortably furnished. We had no need to contact our hosts, as we had no questions or problems with the accommodation.
The house is lovely; all the rooms are comfortable and the neighbourhood is perfect. We recommend Justins fudge; you should try the vampire dream fudge! There's a quaint beach down some stairs on this road, sandy. Up at Whitby abbey, you can see (if you made it up the 199 steps) some pirate graves. These are on their sides and are marked with a skull and crossbones! They are on the left of the Abbey, right up against the wall in the graveyard. If your searching for fossils, there is a great beach right around the corner (Saltwick); we found five in the first ten minutes! Boat trips are very rewarding and a good well priced one is Whitby's old lifeboat tour. You may see some seals! The dracula experience is good if you want a scare, but not at all educational. The cook museum is the opposite. If there are any Harry Potter fans reading this, Goathland is th eplace for you! The station there is where they filmed shots of Hogsmede station. As a Harry Potter fan, I thoroughly enjoyed it. For others, the Steam train trip to the Station (from Whitby train Station) and the quaint village may be satisfying. We have all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wish we weren't leaving tomorrow. Rosie (12)
6-9 April 2017
Had a great 30th birthday. Liz was friendly and communicative. Great location.
1-3 April 2017
We had such a lovely time in Whitby past weekend. Beautiful house and beautiful place. x
3-5 February 2017
Had an amazing wkend here with friends, great location a stones throw from the heart of whitby, homely and comfortable, just down the cobbles is the humble pie shop a must for all visitors.
11-15 January 2017
Haglathe house is on one of the most beautiful cobbled streets in Whitby, directly under the Abbey, next to two great pubs and a ten second walk to the amazing cliffs. The house is full of character, clean and so, so cosy. The photos don't do it justice! We had a wonderful time, the weather was wild but we stayed safe and warm in the house and watched the raging sea in front of a roaring fire! We are already planning a second visit!
+ My daughter's trip to Whitby was so special and your beautiful house was a huge part of that, it's so full of character and the location is perfect. Everything was well organised and easy. Already planning the next visit! Thank you
New Year 2016 - The Johnstons, Yarm

25 November 2016
Chris, Liz, Steph, Jane, Sheila, Wendy, Lesley:
Had one of the best weekends of my life! Thanks for such a memorable venue - by far the best cottavge in Whitby. We'll come again!
Quaint well equipped cottage in the heart of Whitby
Just celebrated friends' s special birthday weekend here. Ideal spot minutes from shopping, eating and drinking establishments yet tucked away in this quiet enclave near the Kipper shop. Modern facilities enhanced by the charm and character of original features, particularly loved the 1st floor lounge, great for afternoon tea pre and post dinner drinks.
Excellant cottage in a beautiful location. very well equipped
This must be one of the most beautiful cottages in one of the best streets in Whitby! The location was excellent, very close to all amenities on a cobbled street in the old part of the town. Spread over 3 floors it was very spacious even for 6 quests and offered an en-suite bedroom as well as a very spacious bathroom. Plenty of seating areas both in the lounge and the dining area plus a modern and well equipped kitchen. We chose one of the coldest weekends of the year but the heating was automatically controlled which could be overridden manually for particularly coId spells. I would not hesitate to stay here again and look forward to the next time I visit.
18-20 November 2016
I just wanted to say thank you for letting us stay in your fabulous cottage, we had a great weekend! We would definitely stay again and also recommend it to anyone thinking of staying in Whitby for the weekend!
28 October to 1 November 2016

Such a lovely place with everything we would ever need!
Had a lovely break! Thanks! xxx
We had an absolutely fantastic time in Whitby - the cottage is the best any of us have ever stayed in - we're hoping to be back soon.
15-19 October 2016
This really is an ideal location for those wanting the real Whitby experience. On the cobbled street just along from the Abbey steps and next to one of the last remaining kipper smoke houses (if not the last, I didn't see any others). We were a family of five and loved it. Very atmospheric. Would stay again.
30 September to 2 October 2016
We had a great time thanks. Good run - amazing weather!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our hard earned fish n chips from Hedleys on Saturday after our 15 mile run! We brought kippers home when we left Sunday morning. Thanks again for allowing us to stay with our 4 legged besties!
22-25 September 2016
You will definitely be hearing from us again - we would like to do around the Goth week end next year and your house was perfect. So we will be in touch.
Thank you again.

Your cottage is beautiful and has a lovely atmosphere about it, full of character and charm.
27 August to 3 September 2016
Lovely holliday & cottage. Many thanks.
20-27 August 2016
We really enjoyed our week stay in this characterful and well furnished house. There was plenty of space to sit, eat, relax and store our stuff.
The road outside is pleasantly quiet at this point and it's an easy walk to anywhere you might want to get to around the centre of Whitby, or along the coastal path.
The arrangements for arrival and departure were very convenient.
The kippers from the traditional smokery next door are amazing!
Ruth B and friends :
A lovely house, very well equipped.
We had a very pleasant week, lots to do and see - fantastic weather thrown in for an added bonus.
And we like the kippers very much too.
30 July to 6 August 2016
We had a great time, thanks very much.
26-29 July 2016 - from Bradford, West Yorkshire and Austria

We had a lovely time. Thank you!
7-10 July 2016
A perfect place to stay with friends or family
The house was very comfortable and well set up for either eating in or dining out.
The location was perfect near to all attractions but away from night time noise. The information and communication between the owner is very good prompt and helpful.
1-4 July 2016
We had a wonderful time and thank you for ordering the sunshine it was glorious!
Haglathe House is absolutely beautiful and was in the perfect position for us, we had a fantastic time and wil definitely be returning for another stay in your beautiful house.
Once again fantastic house in the perfect position, will be returning soon.
22-26 June 2016
Comfortable and Convenient
We loved the house. It was cozy and comfortable, and convenient to town. We found the place clean and tidy. The owner was very responsive to our needs. We would have appreciated having a washing machine and clothes dryer, bnut that wasn't a game-stopper since the owner guided us to a laundry on the edge of town. Enroute to the laundry we stumbled upon the most amazing 400 year old inn, Humble Pie, that was open for dinner serving traditional meat pies. Wow!
Overall, our experience was very positive and we'd return again.
Thanks for a great place for our vacation in Whitby!
18-20 June 2016
Fabulous location, gorgeous roll rop bath was amazing after a long day roaming whitby! Do purchase some bath salts from the aromatherapy shop down the cobbles. 2 minute (if that) walk to the sea, you will never want to leave.
We had a brilliant time in Whitby and loved Haglathe House, wish we could have stayed longer.
15-18 June 2016

We have just got back from a lovely weekend at your cottage and just wanted to say thank you. Your cottage is lovely and we all had a great time for a family weekend away for my dads 65th. Been heavily pregnant I found it to be in great location and close enough to all the local amenities. We will definitely be looking at stopping at Halgathe House again in the future.

Well equipped cottage in a lovely location. We stayed over the New Year period and thoroughly enjoyed it. Next to Fortunes Kippers it was ideal for quick access to the beach, the abbey and the shops as well as getting the kippers from next door!

PS : Fantastic Thai takeaway from Karn Thai.
Just wanted to say thank u so much for such a fabulous stay in ure wonderful cottage.
We have had the best weekend in Whitby - quality family time in a great place. We have visited lots of lovely places and we tried the tai takeaway last night- the one near the train station and I have to say it was the best I've ever had! We left the menu on the rack for others to try.
Great location, great house, weather was kind and even parking was fairly easy.

Gill + Nick M :
We all had a great stay - loads of room and very well furnished. Fab comfy bed in the attic + good that we had two Bathrooms. Ideal spot to be in. Lovely Whitby. Great people.
The owners of Haglathe House were brilliant from our first enquiry. They emailed information about events in Whitby when we were there, to letting us know that we wouldn't have to leave at the regular time as there was no incoming guests, brilliant service!
Haglathe House is wonderful, spacious, warm and welcoming. There is a lovely view from the en-suite bathroom.
It is located in a fabulous place, a stones throw from the bottom of the 199 Steps, and 2 excellent pubs.
We would happily return.
Home from Home
Everything you could need away from home.
Lots of room. We had 2 dogs and three adults but you could of had more people staying if needed. Top bedroom has a lovely kingsized bed and en suite shower room and toilet.
There is a large bathroom on first floor to cater for the other two bedrooms.
Good location out of the bustle but close to everything.
The hosts are fab, they keep in touch and help you should you need it.
Great stay, such a lovely place overall .
10-13 July 2015
We stayed for 3 nights and the only issue was that we weren't able to stay longer. We found the location to be ideal for our family break as we were close enough to everything but Henrietta Street is just far enough from the crowds to give you some peace and quiet.
We found the layout worked well as we sat around in the kitchen during the early evening whilst our children got off to sleep and then moved up to the first floor lounge later. We were so tired after our busy days exploring that we all had early nights so I can't comment on the TV as we never turned it on.
Liz was an excellent host and arranged everything we needed including cot and high chair. We'd love to go back and have no hesitation in recommending it to you.

Enjoyed ourselves a lot. The cottage was great to stay in. Spotlessly clean.
A fine accommodation.

Our stay was great, the house was full of character and so peaceful. Can't find any faults at all, though a vacuum cleaner would have been handy to tidy up .Its just a lovely house and was spotless and would recommend it, also with being on three levels we were not living on top of each other. So sorry to leave, and hopefully will return in the future, thank you for a wonderful stay
Great holiday home from home
Stayed May bank holiday weekend.
Haglathe House was very comfortable (4 adults in our party). Well appointed kitchen and lots of cookware/crockery (not that we used it other than mugs & glasses). Nicely decorated house and comfortable furniture. The attic room is lovely and spacious. The only minor detail for our group was that a shower in the main bathroom would be useful. The owners were very helpful & friendly and answered queries quickly.
We have already recommended the property to our friends. This is a property that I would definitely be happy to stay in again.

Haglathe Cottage is an ideal location for exploring Whitby.
We enjoyed our stay. Would recommend to others
28 August 2014 - James P :
Very nice cottage, love Whitby (again), love the red tiles in the kitchen, do take the steam train Whitby to Pickering (North Yorkshire Moors Railway), do try the kipper paté (next door).

Lovely, comfortable cottage - a great base from which to explore the sands, sights and smells of Whitby.
10 August 2014 - Tavener Family:
Cottage was lovelly. Just the place i could live in very easily. Recomend the pie + mash at the Humble pie, the Kippers are great. great place to stay if you have a dog, a very dog friendly place. Would stay here again.
Everything we needed!
Lovely cottage in a great location. Everything was as we wanted. All our questions were answered promptly before our arrival by our hosts.
Everything was spotlessly clean.
May 2014 - Carroll :
Very clean + spacious accomodation. Great location. Ideal venue/location for short stay - would recommend!

April 2014 - The Joseph family :
This is our 2nd visit to Haglathe House and it was as good as our 1st visit, if not better! Superb location, very well equipped, cosy and clean! Thank you so much for having us and we hope to be back again soon!
January 2014 - Dave P and the gang
Had a wonderful weekend. Lovely cottage in great position.
Only one complaint ..... "Boys" didn't catch any fish!!
The O Family :
This was our second stay in Haglathe House this year, and it was just as good as the first!!
It's a fantastic cottage in a great location.
For anyone with dogs, we would recommend Beckett's.
(Beckett's, 9 Skinner Street, Whitby)
The Kilner family
A lovely clean and spacious house.
Our two boys enjoyed nipping down to the beach fossilling and fishing/crabbing.
Would definitely book this place again, although would prefer a washing machine to a dish-washer.
This cottage had such a lovely feel we didn't want to go home. And so cozy on a winter's evening ready to go out.
We have previously stayed in cottages with parking in Henrietta Street but Liz told us where to park and so we only had to drive along the street on arrival and departure. Much better than having to drive along the semi-pedestrianized cobbled streets every time you go out in the car.
Can't wait to come again, Whitby is a lovely place.
The George Family :
Cottage was lovely and clean, the cleanest we have stayed in. Would recommend it to anyone. Would come back again given the chance. There is all the facilities you need for a short stay and happy holiday.
The Joseph family :
What a wonderful 5 days at Haglathe House!! A beautiful cottage with everything we could possibly need. It was clean spacious + a stones throw from the beach. We had two 2 year olds with us so the central location was perfect! We will definetely be booking again
A lovely property - very well equipped.
The Carter-ali family :
Our stay was lovely, the cottage, facilities and cleanliness were great. A washing machine would have been nice though. Would definitely stay again & recommend this holiday cottage
The Jarvis family :
Lovely town, lovely street, lovely house : this was one of our best family holidays. A fine house, very comfy and attractive - and we like the smell of kippers! Particularly pleased to find a large, comfy cot for our toddler - most holiday homes just provide a travel cot. We'd recommend meals at the Magpie Cafe, the Fisherman's Wife, Humble Pie, Sanders Yard; tea at W Hamond and ice creams from Teave Wood's luxury Ice Cream Parlour. We'd also recommend a trip ont he North York Moors Railway (we went to Goathland), & don't miss Robin Hood's Bay, which is spectacular.
The Littler family :
A lovely property - very well equipped.
July 2013 - The Orgills :
We had a very enjoyable stay. Cottage is lovely. Recommend Humble Pie, The Four Seasons and The Monk's Haven. Thank you.
19 July 2013 - Sue
I'd just like to tell you how much we enjoyed our stay at this cottage this weekend. What a lovely place! I've been coming to Whitby to stay for over 35 years & love Henrietta Street & this is the best place I've stayed on this street. The furnishings & rooms were spot on, So once again, thank you so much.

Cute cottage in a terrific spot in an interesting town
We stayed in Haglathe House with three teen/young adult children. The cottage is very clean and fresh with everything we needed except a washing machine. The narrow cobbled street is cute though parking is some distance away. Liz was helpful and available. Love Whitby!
